This collaborative project is an abbreviated idea to solve the arising problem of pressure sore. Pressure sores usually happens on disable people and patients who are bedridden as they are unable to move or constantly keep one position for a long time. Pressure sores are caused by vertical pressure and friction. To prevent pressure sore from happening, this require long term nursing to flip body frequently. To solve this problem we are trying to design a suit/ gown for long term bedridden patients. By embedding soft sensor and pneumatic system with conductive yarn, we will be able to monitor the pressure or humidity of certain body part, which in order to control the pneumatic system to help patient to flip their bodies. In terms of material use, we are thinking about inotek or tencel. As this project is still in progress, we will work on pressure sensor test and pattern for hospital gown.
