Active Textile System Project with Inotek

During the active textile system project, we are privileged to use the new inotek fibre in our design. It is a great opportunity for me to learn about characteristics about fibre itself and its’ form like yarn. This is the first time I try to introduce fibre into my design by weave it directly in my work. Its very intriguing to see how the fibre shrinks when it’s wet. I found it is quite difficult to use the inotek yarn for my warp as it is highly twisted, however the outcome of woven pieces surprised me when it interacts with other materials. Structure wise, I found that using honey comb are the most effective way to observe the status of the yarn because it shrinks quite obviously. Material wise, I have tried some yarns which share the same similarity to inotek yarn such as cotton and water soluble yarn to compare different textures.
